The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) is one of Europe's largest cancer research centers. "Research for a life without cancer" is the mission of our world-class scientists and all our team members.

We investigate how cancer develops, identify cancer risk factors and search for new cancer prevention strategies. We develop new methods with which tumors can be diagnosed more precisely and cancer patients can be treated more successfully. Every contribution counts - whether in research, administration or infrastructure. This is what makes our daily work so meaningful and exciting.

For our newly established Junior Research Group "Tumor Ecosystem Biology", we are seeking, starting in October 2026, an enthusiastic

  • Tumor Ecosystem Biology

Our research group investigates how pancreatic cancer evolves and interacts with its immune microenvironment. We combine advanced mouse models, functional genomics, spatial biology, and single-cell technologies to uncover the mechanisms that drive tumor initiation, progression, immune evasion, and therapeutic resistance.

Your Tasks

You will work closely with scientists on projects investigating the molecular mechanisms of pancreatic cancer progression and immune regulation. Your work will involve a broad range of molecular, cellular, and immunological techniques, including tissue culture, molecular cloning, CRISPR-based genome editing, flow cytometry, histology, immunofluorescence, and the processing of mouse tissues. You will also contribute to the organization of the laboratory and management of biological samples, ensuring high standards of quality control and documentation.

The successful candidate will enjoy learning new techniques and be interested in a varied, independent, and responsible role in translational cancer research.

Applicants should have completed training as a biological technical assistant (BTA), biology laboratory technician, or hold an equivalent qualification. Experience with molecular biology, cell culture, immunological methods, or mouse work is desirable. Previous experience with laboratory organization and documentation is an advantage.

Your profile should include:
  • High motivation, reliability, and flexibility
  • A structured and independent approach to work
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
